Prizes & Incentives
While the primary purpose of this ride is to assist the United Way of Durham Region, it is not mandatory that riders raise pledges over and above the registration fee of $50
This being said, it is our hope that as many riders as possible will understand how seriously the global economic situation has impacted this area, and how valuable the services provided with United Way assistance are to the entire community.
As you reach each fundraising level, you will continue collecting prizes and entering draws. Take a look at what is in store for you:
• Every rider who raises $300 in pledges will receive a $50 registration rebate and a Ride4United Way Cycling Hat!
• For the rider who raises $550 in pledges will receive a $50 gift card for Future Shop.
• Every rider who raises $1000 in pledges will receive a Ride4United Way Jersey. It’s a new design and the ‘must have’ item for the 2011 ride! Think how fly you’ll look with the United Way cycling hat too!
• Riders who raise $1000 or more in pledges, will be entered into a draw for to win a fantastic giant bike (http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-CA/bikes/model/roam.xr/8081/45741/) and $200 Impala Gift Card.
• Riders who raise a minimum of $2,000 in pledges will have their name entered in a draw for a chance to win a $2,300 travel voucher for a Sojourn Vermont Trip.
• For participants in the HeartBreak Hill Challenge (only available on the 160km route, with a time chip) there are $1,500 cash prizes for the Top 15 Finishers. 1st Place: $500, 2nd Place: $250, 3rd Place: $150.
• Any donor who pledges $20 or more will receive a charitable tax receipt and have their name entered into a draw for a $200 Future Shop gift card.
The web site is set up to make it as easy as possible for you to fundraise. We encourage you to use the site, or download pledge forms which you may take around to friends, family and business associates. Many people find this easier and more effective. We know that the majority of fundraisers will do it because they believe that by helping others they in turn, receive more than they gave.
Thanks for your interest in our ride; we certainly hope you’ll join us.
Please see the following information to better explain our prize and incentive terms. Our program is accumulative and as you reach each fundraising level, you receive each prize or draw opportunity….you can’t really lose!
Prizes and Incentives for Fundraising!
For the purposes of clarity, we use the word ‘prize’ in the context of a draw prize, for example:
A Prize:
Individual riders who raise a minimum of $1,000 in pledges will have their name entered in a draw for a chance to win a fantastic bike!
Similarly, we use the word ‘incentive’ to mean something which every rider who achieves a certain level of fundraising will receive. (In addition to the satisfaction which comes with knowing that your efforts and good work have helped improve the quality of life for someone a little less fortunate)
An Incentive:
Every rider who raises $1000 in pledges will receive a Ride4United Way cycling jersey.
Thank you for taking part in the ride, we hope you will enjoy the day, meet some great people and feel positively about your efforts to help many thousands of people in our community…that is indeed the greatest prize.
As Martin Luther King Jr. said:
“We must use time creatively and forever realize that
the time is always ripe to do right.”
